The REFRESH wind turbine blade recycling project is being presenting at JEC Composites Talks Nordics in Oslo on 4th June 2024. REFRESH has a strong connection with Norway through its partner Gjenkraft, a Norwegian recycler of composite materials.

JEC Composites Talks are invitation-only events. They provide exclusive opportunities to connect with professionals from industry and from the composites applications sectors to foster the development of local as well as international projects. This first Nordics meeting is being organised by JEC in partnership with Norwegian Circular Materials Technology (NCMT), Finnish Plastics Industries Federation (FIPIF), Plastindustrien of Denmark, and LIGHTer, a Swedish hub for lightweight technologies.

The event brings together the composites industry, associations and research organisations, authorities and policymakers in the Nordics region, with the aim of stimulating knowledge sharing, networking and business opportunities. Industry leaders will provide in-depth analyses of the market in Norway, Finland, Denmark and Sweden. The programme features company presentations and case studies.

REFRESH project coordinator Daniel Grisenti of RINA will deliver a presentation in the Case Studies session. Representatives from the REFRESH partners Gjenkraft, EuCIA, Acciona and Gees Recycling will also be attending the event.

REFRESH General Assembly

Following JEC Composites Talks Nordics, all the REFRESH partners will gather at Gjenkraft’s facility in Høyanger for the project’s third General Assembly. The meeting takes place on 7-8th June.

Gjenkraft offers recycling services for composites waste generated by the wind energy and other sectors and it sells the recovered materials for use in new products. The company’s advanced thermal treatment process enables the recovery of glass fibres, carbon fibres and synthetic fuels. In the REFRESH project Gjenkraft will design and deploy an upgrade to its pilot plant to recycle the composite materials from wind turbine blades (learn more).
