REFRESH participates in WindEnergy Hamburg as member of Wind Innovation Cluster Hub
REFRESH, an EU-funded project developing sustainable repurposing and recycling solutions for decommissioned wind turbine blades, is attending WindEnergy Hamburg 2026 as a member of the new Wind Innovation Cluster Hub. Gees Recycling, the project’s mechanical recycling expert, will represent REFRESH at the event.

Launch of Wind Innovation Cluster Hub
REFRESH is among 18 Horizon Europe projects joining forces to launch the Wind Innovation Cluster Hub, a joint initiative driving wind energy research and innovation across Europe. The Wind Hub is the first shared structure connecting Horizon Europe projects working on innovative wind energy solutions.

The EU-funded REFRESH project has achieved a notable advance in circularity for the wind energy sector by demonstrating that recycled glass fibres from decommissioned wind turbine blades can be used in the manufacture of a new blade.

In a groundbreaking study, REFRESH has published promising results from its initial life cycle assessment (LCA) of the project’s processes for recycling glass fibre and carbon fibre reinforced composites from end-of-life (EoL) wind turbine blades.

REFRESH project targets solutions for improved recycling of composite wind turbine blades
The European Union has set ambitious growth targets for wind energy, and in addition to this challenge the wind industry must answer demands for greater sustainability and circularity. REFRESH aims to develop a circular, smart system enabling improved recycling of glass fibre reinforced composite materials derived from turbine blades.

EuCIA participates in EU-funded REFRESH wind blade recycling project
The European Composites Industry Association (EuCIA) is pleased to announce its participation in REFRESH, an EU-funded project which aims to develop a novel circular, smart system enabling improved recycling of glass fibre reinforced composites derived from wind turbine blades. The first operation meeting of the REFRESH consortium took place on 20th February.
