On 11 June, REFRESH participated in an online Cross-Fertilisation Workshop organised by the SALIENT project.

The event, organised by SALIENT partner BAX, aimed to bring together EU-funded projects, SMEs, clusters, and innovation stakeholders for an exchange focused on accelerating collaboration and boosting impact within the lightweighting ecosystem.

REFRESH was represented by communications and dissemination leader EuCIA.

Objectives of the workshop

The aim was to help identify future funding opportunities for ongoing projects related to lightweighting innovation and connect projects and build synergies to maximise the impact of project results and strengthen market uptake.

The opening plenary session outlined the objectives of the workshop and expected outcomes. In the following breakout sessions, related projects discussed their KPIs. All participants then reconvened to present and discuss the main conclusions.

Expected outcomes

The expected outcomes of the workshop are twofold:

  • To cross-fertilise projects by facilitating the matchmaking of joint results with future funding opportunities. These findings will be compiled into a shared database.
  • To generate a two-page summary document highlighting the results, potential impact, and challenges addressed by the projects. This document will be shared with European Commission representatives.

SALIENT is an EU-funded project is designing a new Front End Structure (FES) for vehicles which is more circular, lightweight, safe and smart than those available on the market today.
