REFRESH is pleased to announce its participation in Waste to Materials in Building and Construction, a conference for young researchers. The event is hosted by the Technical University of Denmark (DTU) and takes place on 11-13 September.

This conference is designed for young researchers and professionals. Its aim is to facilitate dialogue, research and other collaborative efforts between professionals from academia and industry.

The conference will explore the reutilisation of waste materials in circular construction. Key themes are expected to include:

• Utilising secondary resources for construction materials;
• Characterisation methods and structural integrity assessment;
• Construction waste management; and
• Environmental assessment and legislation framework.

Recycling wind blades

REFRESH will take part in a special session on the first day of the conference which is being organised by our sister project BLADES2BUILD. Our second sister project, EoLO-HUBS, will also participate.

All three projects are working to develop circular solutions for end-of-use wind turbine blades, transforming what is often considered ‘waste’ into new resources and products. The session will include keynotes, short presentations by young researchers or professionals involved in the projects, and Q&As.

REFRESH will be represented by project coordinator RINA and partner CIRCE, which is developing microwave-assisted recycling technologies for the composite materials used to manufacture wind turbine blades.
